Using Your Inside Voice in Cold Calling

Remember when you were a child and your mother said “Use your inside voice?” The soft, delicate, and easy going voice of being inside? That is what most salesmen need to think of as the phone is ringing their next prospect. Remembering that louder and more excited is not always better in cold calling.

Quite honestly speaking in your inside voice will get people to listen. Remembering to listen as you did when you were a child will also help you develop a positive relationship with the prospect. Most people are simply looking for someone who will listen. So be that for them. Let them know you care enough about them too listen.

For the most part people are simple. If you show them you are really serious, and interested in what they are saying they will talk to you. You will get a few difficult prospects but the key is to be ok with that. Don’t stress the small stuff and you will enjoy you time on the phone….instead of dreading it.
